WHY DO WE NEED UNITE 2030?

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were set up in 2015 by the United Nations to develop a list of targets that the world should accomplish by the year 2030. We have a long way to go if we want to achieve the SDGs by 2030.

What we're missing is innovation, new business models, and creativity in order to ignite change. To achieve the SDGs by 2030, we're in desperate need of new and innovative solutions to the challenges that our world is facing. These solutions must be sustainable, commercially viable, in addition to bringing value to society.

Young people MUST be mobilized. Unleashing the inner talent of young leaders is critical if we want to change the world; Young people bring fresh perspectives, enthusiasm, open mindedness, technology expertise, and an appetite to shake things up.

We believe that we have developed a universal framework to mobilize these youth to develop these new business models that the world so desperately needs. During UNITE 2030, we bring together young people to bring that framework to life and develop those solutions together.

Why is UNITE 2030 Virtual?

We believe that the Internet is one of the most powerful tools that brings us together. And while we LOVE face-to-face human interaction, the reality is that we live in a globalized world. It's becoming more and more essential to develop human connection that transcends face-to-face interaction.

We also believe that everyone should be able to harness the ability to change the world - not just those who can afford to hop on a plane to fly to London at a few months notice. That's why UNITE 2030 is all virtual. All you need is a computer, a good internet connection, and your drive to change the world.

One of the things that our worldchangers love the most about UNITE 2030 is that they get the opportunity to work on international teams, transcending borders to develop solutions to problems that are the responsibility of the entire world to fix.

"Through UNITE 2030, I’ve realized how powerful I am as one person and how I can change the world even in the little actions I make each day. Today I believe I have a different outlook on life and that change I’ve been craving will be catapulted into my own actions."
- Travis Bruce, Guyana

"Participating in UNITE 2030 has become one of the best weekends I had in 2018 despite the crazy time zone difference. It was a humbling experience for me working with other people, strangers even, from culturally diverse backgrounds and fields of interest yet are enthusiastically grounded in a common goal. It aided my ability to become assertive in decision-making yet at the same time keep an open mind about inevitable possibilities that would arise in indefinite situations."
- Nicole Lim, Philippines

"Joining UNITE 2030 was an incredible, exhilarating experience for me. It gave me the opportunity to brainstorm and build a solution tackling SDGs along with world changers I have never met. The two days summit has improved my critical thinking skill as well as expanded my network. I got deeper understanding of ideation, business model planning, and international challenges."
- Aufia Espressivo, Indonesia

"Participating in UNITE 2030 was a truly unique and valuable experience. I was given the opportunity to engage with individuals from around the globe in a personal yet professional manner. With only 48 hours to complete our project, the weekend was an inherently chaotic. However, it was a chaos that tested my strengths, proved my leadership capabilities, fostered genuine connections, and ultimately, showed me what I was capable of."
- Andrew Senese, United States

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

We use the SDGs are the defining framework for the change that we want to see in the world. They provide us with benchmarks and targets that we need to reach if we want to transform the world by the year 2030. But don't worry if you're not the Stephen Hawking of the SDGs - we'll help.

What is The International Development House (The IDHouse?)

UNITE 2030 is an event powered by The International Development House. The IDHouse equips, empowers, and inspires young people to take action on the major challenges facing our world - you know... that stuff like climate change, gender inequality, poverty, global hunger, all that fun stuff.

UNITE 2030 is The IDHouse's signature event, bridging the gap between our community and our second program, the Youth Delegate Programme.
