unite 2030
7th April 2018 - 8th april 2018

UNITE 2030 is held over two days in April, from 9am - 7pm on the first day, and 9am - 9pm on the second day. All times are in GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).

Uniting for Equality

The theme for the 2018 Hackathon is "Uniting Youth for Equality."

At IDHouse, our beliefs are rooted in the power of collaboration across like-minded individuals to tackle critical international challenges. During UNITE 2030, we are uniting a community of young worldchangers and friends to form teams, ideate, and begin building new solutions and models to tackle SDGs 1-5, and 10.

48 hours to change the world

The United Nations wants to change the world by 2030. But we want to do it by April 8th. On the 7th of April, we'll unite aspiring worldchangers across the globe for a 48-hour, virtual Hackathon, where we challenge teams to develop innovative solutions to critical international challenges facing our world. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of how to build businesses, projects, campaigns, and rapid prototypes to tackle the SDGs, but with the potential to introduce this approach to problem solving into their companies and lives wherever possible, and take the ideas from this event forward.

The Power of the Internet

We believe that the Internet is one of the most powerful tools that brings us together. And while we LOVE face-to-face human interaction, the reality is that we live in a globalized world. It's becoming more and more essential to develop human connection that transcends face-to-face interaction.

We also believe that everyone should be able to harness the ability to change the world - not just those who can afford to hop on a plane to fly to London at a few months notice. That's why UNITE 2030 is all virtual. All you need is a computer, a good internet connection, and your drive to change the world.

Expand Your Mind

How often to you get the opportunity to capture an idea, expand on it, develop it, prototype, and present it to a panel of expert worldchangers who know exactly what kinds of solutions are needed to change the world? The purpose of UNITE 2030 isn't necessarily to develop projects that you take to action (although we'd love if you did!), but instead to get you to step out of your comfort zone - evaluating ideas, evaluating the risks of those ideas, understanding the importance of bottom-up meets top-down approaches, collaborating with a brand-new set of colleagues, creating new business models, understanding complex systems, and presenting and pitching your hard work.
